From our President...

I want to convey my thanks to the many Soli members who made the registration process as smooth as could be expected.  In addition, it was good to hear that the "Soli Sound" is still intact.  If you are aware of a former member who was not at the first rehearsal feel free to contact them or give their name to a Board member so we can get a good idea as to the makeup of the choir for this semester.  It was great to see the "old gang" and a special welcome to the new members!!!  -- Tom O'Hearn

Change in Dues

Dues are being raised to $50 this semester, due to continued increases in costs for the choir, including rental of orchestra scores, rehearsal space, programs, etc., and balancing the budget with our revenue sources.  We appreciate your help in our fundraising efforts and in encouraging generous concert-goers to attend and support Soli Deo Gloria.  We appreciate your understanding of this difficult decision.

Performance Attire Swap & Sale is Sept 17, 6pm,

First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.  If you are no longer able to sing with us, please attend to sell your performance attire, or email us to make alternate arrangements.

If you've changed sizes, and your tux or dress no longer fit well, please plan to attend so you can look and feel your best for our concerts.  Please plan to set a price for your own attire.

We need volunteers to assist with the Swap & Sale.  If you could come early to help, please contact Jill Patterson, or just show up.  It will be greatly appreciated!

L.A. Baritones Concert & Vocal Workshop

A portion of our choir was fortunate to sing at the Shivers Pikes Peak Library Celebration a few years ago.  We were joined by the L.A. Baritones, who were wonderful!  They are performing here again this week.

Concert:  The Los Angeles Baritones are a vocal ensemble consisting of three outstanding artists: Bradley Baker, Cedric Berry, and Richard Taylor. This ensemble blends their trained voices to produce rich harmonies in a repertoire that ranges from opera to art songs to classic Negro spirituals. They will be joined by special guest Susan Grace, associate chair, artist-in-residence, and senior lecturer in music at Colorado College.

Friday, Sept 21, 7 p.m., Richard F. Celeste Theatre, Edith Kinney Gaylord Cornerstone Arts Center, 825 N. Cascade Ave., Free.

Workshop: Free Workshop on Vocal Techniques with the L.A. Baritones — The Los Angeles Baritones will present a free workshop on vocal technique. No experience required, just an interest in music. All ages welcome. Free and open to the public, no tickets required.

Saturday, September 22, 12 p.m., Flex Room, Edith Kinney Gaylord Cornerstone Arts Center, 825 N. Cascade Ave., Free.

News & Notes Emails; why I am getting them?

We've been emailing an expanded mailing list over the summer, due to the upcoming performance attire sale, and for returning/potential members.  After Sept 17, 2012, routine News & Notes will be sent only to registered members.  We'll still plan to send a pre-concert announcement to our entire mailing list.

until Monday...
